Hello and welcome to Foundation Stage’s page!
In Nursery, learning comes from the children’s interests. Staff take detailed observations of the children and enhance provision effectively to further the children’s learning. The children have had a busy year so far and have been learning about potions, pirates, transport, hedgehogs and autumn to name just a few. They are already becoming inquisitive learners.
This year Reception have been basing their learning around Talk for Writing. They have used actions to help them retell the story of ‘The three little pigs.’ Story maps helped them to recall the story without using the book. Once they were confident with the story they changed the characters and houses to create their own version of the story. The children are becoming storytellers.
In Reception, we are learning our sounds and mastering the skills of blending and segmenting. We are keen to read stories by ourselves and write for a range of purposes. Please help us by listening to us read as much as possible at home!
The outdoor area is a key part of the children’s learning. Since it was renovated over the summer, the children are spending even more time out there. They are inquisitive in the garden, risk takers on the climbing frame, resilient in the construction area, persistent in the water area and enthusiastic about reading.
The children’s learning is recorded through observations using Tapestry. These observations are shared with the children and parents so that they can comment on their learning and progress further.
